Adult Content Platforms: How They Differ
Choosing a platform matters more than it seems: it determines the requirements for material, the paperwork, the commission, the payment methods and the likelihood of one day losing access to your entire archive.
Type 1. Aggregators
Large catalogues with free access and an advertising model. Enormous traffic, minimal income per item, weak control over how material is used afterwards. Suited to attracting attention rather than earning.
Type 2. Subscription services
The viewer pays the creator directly and the platform takes a commission. They require identity verification for the creator and documentation for everything published. Income is higher and more predictable; so is dependence on a single platform.
Type 3. Your own site
Full control and no platform commission. In exchange you solve payments, hosting, age verification and copy protection yourself. The main difficulty is not technical but financial: connecting card payments to an adult project is markedly harder than to an ordinary one.
Type 4. Messengers and closed channels
A low barrier to entry, direct contact with an audience, weak protection of material and total dependence on the rules of one service.
What to look at when choosing
- Which documents are required and whether they are stored securely
- Commission and payout timelines
- What happens on suspension: can the archive be exported
- How the platform protects material from re-uploading
- Rules on synthetic content — these are recent and vary widely
The main advice
Never keep the only copy anywhere but your own storage. A platform is a shop window, not an archive. Rule changes, suspensions and closures happen, and your material should survive them.
